With so many streaming services available on Google TV, it’s no wonder that parents want to take advantage of them. The problem is that kids can get bored with their parents’ favorite shows and movies quickly, especially if they don’t have access to other content on the device itself. Luckily for those with this issue in mind (and maybe even some who don’t), Google has recently added a new feature to its platform: watchlists for kids.
Google TV’s new watchlist feature.
A watchlist is a list of shows and movies that you want your kids to watch. You can create one in each of the three Google TV apps: YouTube, Hulu Plus, and Netflix.
Once you’ve created a watchlist, it will appear on the home screen as a tab next to “My Channel.”
To add something to your kid’s watchlists:
Go into their account settings page (under “Account”) and tap on “Personalization”.
Tap on “Watchlists” at top left corner of page then select from one of these options: Add New Watchlist; Edit Existing Watchlist; Remove All Items From This List.
One of the main reasons to buy a Google TV device is its integration with streaming services like Netflix and YouTube, as well as live channels. But Google recently added a new feature to its platform that should make it even more attractive to families, especially ones with kids.

Watchlists allow parents to create playlists for their kids using your phone, tablet or computer (or any other remote device). They can then access these lists from all devices running the same operating system—meaning you don’t have to worry about which app is being used by each family member when they want to watch something together on the big screen in the living room.
Parents can start by adding movies and shows from YouTube, Disney+, Hulu and Netflix to their watchlist. They can then pick a profile for their child and give them access to the curated list. Kids will then be able only to scroll through what’s available in the watchlist, but can’t access other content on the device.

Once created, parents will be able to modify some of these settings:
The time period that matches up with school holidays (this is customizable)
Whether or not they want their kids’ accounts disabled while they’re away from home
