Samsung creates first smartphone with AMD ray tracing

Samsung has announced their first smartphone chip with AMD’s ray tracing GPU. The Exynos 2200 is a 4nm chip that will be powering Samsung’s next flagship phones. The Exynos 2200 is the first mobile chip to use AMD’s Radeon technology, which will allow for better graphics and more realistic lighting effects.

Samsung has not disclosed any information about pricing or availability of the new chip just yet, but it will be powering the company’s next flagship phones. Samsung Exynos 2200 is based on EUV process. It uses Armvp cores: one high-powered Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710 cores for balanced performance, and four more efficient Cortex-A510 cores.

The GPU will be used for tasks like augmented reality and virtual reality experiences, as well as for processing high-resolution images and video.
The new chip is also expected to offer better performance than Samsung’s previous generation chips. Its ISP architecture is designed to support cameras of upto 200 megapixels.
